Brian Gallagher, a native of Scranton, graduated from Scranton Preparatory School in 2004 and attended the University of Scranton where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 2008. He attended Thomas Cooley Law School and earned a Juris Doctorate in 2011. Following law school, he became a certified legal intern for the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office in the Tort Litigation and Consumer Protection Units. In January of 2012, Mr. Gallagher was hired as an Assistant District Attorney at Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office where he began his career prosecuting cases in the Juvenile Unit.
During his time in the Juvenile Unit, Mr. Gallagher prosecuted various crimes ranging from theft to rape and related sexual offenses, robbery, burglary, assaults, felony firearm charges, gang-related crimes, and felony drug offenses. After leaving the Juvenile Unit, he became a member of the DUI/Homicide by Motor Vehicle Unit where he has remained since. During his time in the DUI/Homicide by Motor Vehicle Unit, Mr. Gallagher worked hand in hand with local police departments as well as the State Police and has personally prosecuted over 500 DUI cases. In addition, since 2012, he has participated in the investigation and prosecution of homicide by vehicle cases. Mr. Gallagher has received specialized training in the investigation and prosecution of these cases through the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association and is a member of the Pennsylvania DUI Association.
Throughout his career in the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Gallagher has also gained valuable prosecution experience handling a wide variety of criminal cases from election fraud to arson and murder. Additionally, since 2014 he actively works with the Drug/Gun Unit in prosecuting felony drug and gun cases.
Mr. Gallagher resides in Lackawanna County with his wife.
