Deputy District Attorney Suzanne Tierney has been with the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office since 1997. Originally from Jermyn, she received her undergraduate degree in 1993 from Dickinson College and her Juris Doctorate from Widener University School of Law. While in the district attorney’s office, she has handled numerous cases ranging from child abuse cases, narcotics investigations, juvenile cases, felony cases of robbery, burglary, aggravated assault and homicide cases.
In the fall of 2000, Ms. Tierney began prosecuting elder abuse cases and was the first prosecutor in the State of PA to prosecute a case at the trial level under the new neglect of a care dependent statute and get a successful conviction. In 2004, she was appointed lead supervisor of the Elder Abuse Unit. Since then, she has participated in several elder abuse trainings and has spoken at numerous educational seminars, trainings, and community presentations on this subject.
Ms. Tierney resides in Lackawanna County with her husband, 5 children and 3 dogs.
